Abstract
An imported case of pneumonia caused by penicillin-resistant Streptoco ccus pneumoniae occurred in a tourist, shortly after arriving in Barba dos. The isolate was of serogroup 6 and exhibited intermediate resista nce to penicillin, This was the first isolation of penicillin-resistan t S. pneumoniae in Barbados.
