Porcine isolates of Pasteurella multocida were characterised by phenot
ypic and genotypic methods. Studies were performed before and after pi
gs from different sources were mixed. Before purchase the protein and
ribotype profiles were essentially unique. After up to one year after
purchase more types were detected and after 2 years two protein and tw
o ribotypes were detected. The findings of The study are discussed wit
h respect to immunoprophylactic methods.
