Reaction of tetrachloroauric(III) acid hydrate with dicyclohexylcarbod
iimide (dcc) in dichloromethane in the presence of equimolar amounts o
f triethylamine leads to a complex reaction mixture. One of the compon
ents was shown by X-ray crystallography to be [(N, N', tricyclohexyl)-
N''-cyclohexylcarbamoylguanidinium] tetrachloroaurate(III) (1) which c
ontains as a cation the addition product of dcc with the corresponding
urea.
