Abstract
The complexes [CuII3(OCH2CHCH2NH2)4][MI3I5] (M = Cu 1 or Ag 2) have be en prepared and characterized by IR spectroscopic and conductivity mea surements. The structure of 1 [monoclinic, space group C2/c, a = 14.35 0(4), b = 16.046(2), c = 13.183(3) angstrom, beta = 101.30(2)degrees] has been refined to an R value of 0.041 (R' = 0.048). The cation consi sts of three linearly arranged copper(II) ions chelated by four 3-amin opropanolate ligands and polymeric (CuI3I42-)n chains. The nature of c omplex 2 was revealed by Fourier-transform IR measurement and elementa l analyses. Its ionic conductivity (sigma) is 1.13 x 10(-5) OMEGA-1 cm -1 at 50-degrees-C. Complex 1 does not show any ionic or electronic co nductivity.
