High-resolution atomic absorption measurements of lead isotopes are pe
rformed in a graphite tube atomizer with integrated low-pressure de di
scharge using frequency-doubled laser diode radiation at 405.78 mm. Fo
r the first time, calibration by isotope dilution is demonstrated in a
nalytical laser spectroscopy. Furthermore, isotope dilution is proved
to be an effective technique for cancellation of chemical as well as p
hysical matrix effects in optical spectrochemistry.
