terative mapping derived using an information theoretic criterion of o
ptimality, A mathematical structure is defined followed by an analysis
of the mapping, based on this structure, The convergence of the mappi
ng is considered both in the general formulation and for a particular
example, Some popular techniques are shown to be special cases of this
general mapping.
