Os. Vaulina et al., THE METHOD OF DETERMINING THE MEAN SIZE, CONCENTRATION AND REFRACTIVE-INDEX OF PARTICLES IN HIGH-TEMPERATURE FLOWS, High temperature, 35(5), 1997, pp. 783-789
A method, based on measurements of the dependence of extinction on the
angular aperture of a photodetector, is proposed for use in determini
ng the parameters of particles in high-temperature flows. The method e
nables one to determine the concentration and mean size of the dispers
e phase and to simultaneously recover the refractive index of low-abso
rbing particles. The conditions of correct recovery of the size and re
fractive index of particles are treated. Successful evaluation tests a
re performed of the method of measuring monodisperse latexes in water
and polydisperse particles of diverse materials in flows of the produc
ts of propane combustion in air.
