A. Hiermann et F. Bucar, DIPHENYLTIN DICHLORIDE AS A CHROMOGENIC REAGENT FOR THE DETECTION OF FLAVONOIDS ON THIN-LAYER PLATES, Journal of chromatography, 675(1-2), 1994, pp. 276-281
Among several complexation reagents, diphenyltin dichloride (DTC) prov
ed to be a useful chromogenic compound for both the qualitative and qu
antitative analysis of flavones and flavonols on thin-layer plates by
forming fluorescent complexes of different colour. For qualitative ana
lysis, comparative detection with DTC and diphenylboric acid 2-aminoet
hyl ester can indicate the position of the glycosidated hydroxyl of ka
empferol and luteolin glycosides. Fluorimetric densitometry showed hig
h sensitivity to flavonols with a free 5-hydroxyl group and flavones c
ontaining two adjacent hydroxyl groups in ring B.
