S. Gocan et al., PREDICTION OF THE LIPOPHILICITY OF SOME PLANT GROWTH-STIMULATING AMIDO ESTERS OF ETHANOLAMINE USING REVERSED-PHASE THIN-LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY, Journal of chromatography, 675(1-2), 1994, pp. 282-285
Using reversed-phase high-performance thin-layer chromatography with o
ctadecylsilane-bonded silica gel as the stationary phase and methanol-
water as the mobile phase, several new compounds (amido esters of etha
nolamine) were studied. The R(m) values were plotted versus methanol m
olar fraction (x) and a linear correlation was obtained, R(m) = a(o) a(1)X, characterized by high values of the correlation coefficient, r
. The R(m) values for X = 0 (organic solvent content), (R(m))(x=o) = a
(o), can be used to elucidate the lipophilicity of the studied compoun
ds. The log P values were calculated using fragmental constants. A goo
d correlation was found between a(o) and log P, with r = 0.929.
