The reactions of bis-(ethylenediamine)MX2, M(en)(2)X-2, bis-(1,3-propy
lenediamine)MX2, M(1,3-DAP)(2)X-2, and bis-(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propylene
diamine)MX2, M(2,2-DM-1,3-DAP)(2)X-2 complexes, [M = Cu-II or Ni-II an
d X = Cl- or ClO4-], after adjusting the pH values to 5, with 1,1-diac
etyl-2,2'-biimidazole (Ac(2)BiIm) afforded octaazamacrocyclic Cu-II co
mplexes (1-6) and Ni-II complexes (7-12). The solid complexes were cha
racterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivities, IR, UV-vis, EP
R, NMR and atomic absorption spectra, back titration, TGA and DTA. (C)
