Binuclear copper(I) complexes [Cu(dppm)(phen)](2)(NO3)(2) (1), dppm =
Ph2PCH2PPh2 [Cu(dppm)(2,2'-bipy)](2)(NO3)(2)(2), [Cu-2(dppm)(2)(C7H5O4
N)](NO3)(2)(3), C7H5O4N = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid, [Cu-2(dppm)(
2)(Py)(2)(NO3)](NO3)CH3OH(4), Py = pyridine have been synthesized by l
igand;reduction of cupric nitrate with dppm and characterized by speci
fic elemental analyses,,molecular weight determination, t.g., and (PNM
R)-P-31; their electronic conductivities and c.v. waves have also been
measured. The X-ray crystal structure of complex (4) shows that dppm
coordinates as a bridging bidentate ligand to the Cu-I atoms, and NO,
behaves as a bidentate ligand or free ion in these new binuclear coppe
r(I) complexes. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
