Abstract
A geochemical study of adult and juvenile Herpetocypris brevicaudata s hells, calcified under laboratory conditions in? four water temperatur es (12.4, 14.6, 19.8, 23.3 degrees C) highlighted the influence of the calcification process on the Sr and Mg uptakes es, and showed that wa ter temperature does not influence the Mg content in H. brevicaudata s hells. The partition coefficients D(Sr) and D(Mg) are the first determ inations for this species: adult: D(Sr)=0.195 +/- 0.013 and D(Mg)=0.01 71 +/- 0.0018; juvenile D(Sr)=0.198 +/- 0.009 and D(Mg)=0.0208 +/- 0.0 008.
