Longitudinal Josephson plasma in high-T-c cuprates is formulated by us
ing a intrinsic Josephson coupling model in which the charging effect
due to the Cooper pair transfer between the layers is taken into accou
nt. The power absorption of microwave due to the longitudinal plasma e
xcitation is calculated. It is verified that the sharp absorption peak
observed in the microwave experiments in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta originat
es from the excitation of the longitudinal plasma.
