Abstract
Ag-addition effects on the microstructure and superconducting properti es of Y0.9Ca0.1Ba2Cu4O8 was investigated. Critical transport current d ensity J(c) increased by an order of magnitude by optimum addition. Re duction of porosity in Y124 was shown to be the origin of this remarka ble J(c) enhancement.
