S. Michaeli et al., PHOTOINDUCED ELECTRON-TRANSFER FROM TRIPLET FULLERENE, C-3(60), TO TETRACYANOETHYLENE - FOURIER-TRANSFORM ELECTRON-PARAMAGNETIC-RESONANCE STUDY, Journal of physical chemistry, 98(31), 1994, pp. 7444-7447
Fourier transform EPR spectroscopy was employed in studying the electr
on transfer (ET) and the quenching mechanisms of the photoexcited trip
let state of C-60 (electron donor) in the presence of the electron acc
eptor tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) in a benzonitrile solution. The ET rea
ction product, which is the stable anion radical TCNE-, interacts with
C-3(60) (both detected by EPR in the liquid phase), leading to chemic
ally induced dynamic electron polarization of TCNE-, via triplet-doubl
et mixing mechanism.
