Abstract
We propose a new approach for modelling joint systems in oil reservoir s in sedimentary stratified media. This approach combines a determinis tic analysis of the spatial variation of mean fracture attributes at t he ''global'' scale (a few kilometers) and a 3D stochastic modelling o f the fracture system at the ''local'' scale (a few tens of meters). T he global model is used to calibrate the parameters of the random proc edure used to build the discrete model of fracture network. Different concepts are used to analyse systematic joints and fold-related joints . This approach should be more predictive than usual statistical model ling of fracture patterns.
