Rl. Hyman et al., PULMONARY-EMBOLISM FROM IN-SITU RIGHT ATRIAL THROMBUS AFTER CORONARY-ARTERY BYPASS-SURGERY, Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography, 10(7), 1997, pp. 760-762
Pulmonary embolism after cardiac surgery is attributed to embolization
from thrombus within the deep venous system. We report two cases of p
ulmonary embolism after coronary artery bq pass surgery in which trans
esophageal echocardiography detected in situ right atrial thrombus. Th
e right-atrium should be screened for thrombus in patients who have pu
lmonary embolism after cardiac surgery.
