Abstract
We are faced with the challenge of treating, palliating, or curing eso phageal cancer, considered by some to be the most insidious of cancers . This article acquaints the reader with historic milestones regarding resection of esophageal cancer, preoperative evaluation and preparati on, and the various techniques currently being used to perform esophag ectomy for cancer.
