We examine the space-time symmetries of forward 2 --> 2 scattering. Th
ese symmetries have non-trivial consequences for any class of configur
ations which might dominate the amplitude in the semiclassical approxi
mation. We derive some dynamical results regarding the stability of co
nfigurations which arise solely from reflection symmetry and positivit
y of the (Euclidean) path-integral action. We consider the relative im
portance of initial state effects on non-O(3) symmetric configurations
