Erosion of an automatic infernal cardioverter-defibrillator (AICD) pat
ch into tile lingular bronchus occurred 4 years after implantation; th
e erosion presented as a cavitary mass associated with hemoptysis and
weight loss. On bronchoscopy 10 evaluate for suspected carcinoma, a ca
vity was entered through a bronchial defect and the AICD patch clearly
identified. Tile complication was successfully treated with patch rem
oval and fistula closure.
