Spectral neutron and photon fluxes from iron assemblies irradiated wit
h 14 MeV neutrons were measured. The geometry of the experiment was ch
osen so as to be sensitive to shield penetration problems of fusion re
actor design. The results are compared with Monte Carlo calculations (
code MCNP) based on the data libraries EFF-1, EFF-2 and FEND1-1. A sol
id iron slab, as well as a slab with a vertical gap al different posit
ions, were investigated. Systematic tendencies are discussed. (C) 1997
