The reaction cross sections of S-32(n,p)P-32 and Cl-35(n,alpha)P-32 we
re measured in the energy range 13.3-14.9 MeV using the D-T neutron so
urce of the FNS (Fusion Neutron Source) facility. The activation techn
ique, in combination with the Cherenkov radiation counting of P-32 act
ivity in aqueous solution, was employed. The cross sections were deter
mined relative to the Nb-93(n,2n)Nb-92m cross section. The obtained da
ta were compared with latest evaluations as well as with experimental
data in the literature. An integral experiment was performed in order
to verify the cross sections for the S-32(n,p)P-32 and Cl-35(n,alpha)P
-32 reactions in the following comprehensive activation libraries: JEN
DL Activation File, ADL-3T, EAF-3.1 and FENDL/A-1.0. Reaction rates fo
r the two reactions were measured in five different neutron fields gen
erated in a beryllium assembly bombarded by D-T neutrons, and the expe
rimental values were compared with those calculated with the four libr
aries. As a result, it was found that the evaluated cross sections for
S-32(n,p)P-32 in JENDL, EAF and FENDL and those for Cl-35(n,alpha)P-3
2 in EAF and FENDL were valid over the energy range from their thresho
ld energies to 15 MeV while the others were not. (C) 1997 Elsevier Sci
