We report the temperature dependence of the magnetization of supercond
ucting Bi1.95Sr1.65La0.4CuO6+delta single crystals in externally appli
ed magnetic fields H oriented perpendicularly to the ab plane and rang
ing from 0 to 7.5 kOe. We note that the magnetization M(T, H) is field
independent at a particular temperature T = 11.2 K in the field rang
e of 100 Oe less-than-or-equal-to H less-than-or-equal-to 7500 Oe, and
that M(T, H) exhibits a scaling behavior as a function of [T-T(c)(H)]
/(HT)1/2. From a Lawrence-Doniach-type analysis of the magnetic suscep
tibility due to superconducting fluctuations above T(c), we establish
the T(c)(H) curve and xi(ab)(0) = (63 +/-6) angstrom.
