Abstract
Thyroid disorders in childhood needing surgery are rare. Therapeutical procedures therefore are derived from adult surgery with modification s to meet the specific need of the pediatric patient. The indications for operation are presented with regard to incidence and type of the d efect, and the surgical procedures with regard to the extent of the le sion results. Follow-up shows good postoperative results and a low rat e of complications in children.
