Sm. Kolomiets, MONITORING THE GEOMETRICAL SIZE OF SUSPENDED NONSPHERICAL PARTICLES BY PHOTOELECTRIC METHODS, Journal of optical technology, 64(8), 1997, pp. 742-744
It is shown that photoelectric methods based on an analysis of the dur
ation or modulation depth of signals, as applied to nonspherical parti
cles, allow one to estimate certain parameters of the particles by mea
ns of appropriate optical systems. In particular, they make it possibl
e to determine both characteristic dimensions of an ellipsoid of revol
ution when it is arbitrarily oriented. (C) 1997 The Optical Society of
