Me. Havitz et F. Dimanche, LEISURE INVOLVEMENT REVISITED - CONCEPTUAL CONUNDRUMS AND MEASUREMENTADVANCES, Journal of leisure research, 29(3), 1997, pp. 245-278
This paper revisits and critiques two propositions originally posited
by Havitz and Dimanche (1990) with respect to leisure involvement on t
he basis of evidence from 50 leisure involvement data sets: (1) Multif
aceted scales are more appropriate than single faceted scales for meas
uring leisure and tourism involvement; and (2) Leisure and touristic e
xperiences should be highly involving on all facets. Despite general s
upport for both propositions, recent research has suggested that leisu
re involvement is a more complex construct than originally suggested.
Much of the complexity stems from the challenges inherent in interpret
ing multifaceted data.
