Macron constrictus sp. nov. and Neorapana rotundata sp. nov. from the
Cantaure Formation (Early Miocene) of Venezuela are the earlest known
members of their respective genera, and the only species of Macron and
Neorapana known from the Atlantic Ocean. Both are extremely similar t
o Recent species from northwestern Mexico, Macron orcutti Dall, 1918,
and Neorapana tuberculata (Sowerby, 1835).
