Abstract
With a special resonator design guaranteeing fundamental-mode operatio n a single-rod Nd:YAG (4 mm x 79 mm) oscillator was realized with an a verage output power of up to 34 W TEMinfinity. The total efficiency wa s greater than 0.9% and the beam quality was better than 1.2DL for al l realized output powers between 7 and 34 W. The pulse-to-pulse fluctu ations of the laser running at a repetition rate of 50 Hz were below 3 .2%.
