Abstract
We propose a novel experimental method for measuring the degree of tem poral coherence of ultrashort pulses of harmonics generated by focusin g intense laser pulses in a gas jet. The method is demonstrated in a s imple configuration with the third harmonic generated in air from a 12 0-fs long infrared (800-nm) pulse, but the approach can be readily ext ended to the characterization of higher-order harmonics. We propose th e use of a modified version of the experimental apparatus to perform h igh-resolution Ramsey-type coherent spectroscopy in the VUV and XUV.
