Liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) has found wide applica
tions as a reliable tool for the analysis of biological samples.(1-5)
However, despite the fact that MS itself has the ability to identify a
nd determine analytes in the presence of interfering substances, flow
injection analysis/mass spectrometry (FIA/MS) has seldom been reported
for the analysis of mixed components. Therefore, we attempted to demo
nstrate the excellent ability of FIA/MS in an individual determination
of alpha-, beta- and gamma-cyclodextrins (CDs) in a mixture. The appl
ication of the established method to the analysis of commercial food p
roducts for beta-CD is also reported.
