Abstract
An analysis of Universal Time, the atmospheric angular momentum, the c orona index and the total solar irradiance spectra by the Fourier tran sform and Wavelet technique, indicates that the Madden-Julian oscillat ion, which causes the corresponding oscillation in the Earth's rotatio n, is generated by the variable solar irradiance. The present analysis confirms the existence in the Earth rotation, the atmospheric circula tion, and the solar activity of three oscillations with periods around 40, 50 and 70-day found earlier by the first two authors.
