Abstract
Non-linear kinetics are an important problem encountered when amino ac id racemization level is used in the dating of fossils. We tested the kinetic theory of peptide epimerization [Saint-Martin and Julg, J. Mol . Struc. (Theochem.), 251, 1991, pp. 375-383] for various non-linear c ases. Its kinetic relation is fitted to the results from very diverse fossils and experimental conditions. The fits are particularly good in the light of the model's simplicity. The consequences for the dating method are considered.
