Abstract
A new relationship between the capacity factor and the fraction of an organic modifier in the mobile phase was obtained for reversed-phase H PLC from an analysis of the isotherm or water adsorption from its bina ry mixtures. It was demonstrated that the relationship obtained as an inversely proportional function corresponds satisfactorily to the expe rimental data on the elution of dUrd and dThd deoxyribonucleosides in water-methanol and water-acetonitrile mobile phases. The empirical coe fficients of the equation proposed could be used for the estimation of the hydrophobic properties of eluates.
