Tm. Korman et al., ACUTE HEPATITIS ASSOCIATED WITH CAMPYLOBACTER-JEJUNI BACTEREMIA, European journal of clinical microbiology & infectious diseases, 16(9), 1997, pp. 678-681
A case of acute hepatitis associated with Campylobacter jejuni bactera
emia is reported. Transaminase levels were increased over 50-fold in a
patient with clinical features of enteritis and septicaemia. Campylob
acter jejuni was isolated from blood and faecal cultures. Other infect
ive and noninfective causes of acute hepatitis were excluded. The pati
ent's symptoms and liver function values improved after antimicrobial
therapy. Hepatitis should be considered as a complication of human Cam
pylobacter jejuni infection.
