Abstract
Nowadays meteorological research radars are turning to airborne system s. The dual beam Doppler airborne technique is particularly attractive . However, to limit the size of antennas, we have to use higher radar frequencies, and we are faced with the problem of attenuation when pas sing through intense precipitation. How can the measured reflectivity be corrected for attenuation? This paper proposes a new algorithm, rem arkably simple and stable, which takes advantage of the two viewing an gles of a dual-beam radar.
