A. Bielanski et al., ETHANOL CONVERSION ON DODEHETEROPOLYACIDS SUPPORTED ON CONJUGATED POLYMERS, Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Chemistry, 45(1), 1997, pp. 41-52
The paper summarizes and discusses the results of the investigation of
catalytic and physico-chemical properties of dodecaheteropolyacid (HP
A): H3PMo12O40, H3PW12O40 and H4SiW12O40 supported on conjugated polym
ers (polyacetylene, polypyrrole and polyaniline). The catalysts obtain
ed by a two-steps procedure (synthesis of polymer and the entrapment o
f heteropolyacid as separate operations) are more active in ethanol co
nversion than the unsupported ones. In the case of tungsten containing
catalysts the acid-base type catalytic activity predominates yielding
ethylene and diethyl ether. Molybdenum containing catalysts are mainl
y redox catalysts and acetaldehyde is the most important product. The
nature of the acid and redox catalytically active centres in the inves
tigated catalysts is discussed.
