K. Knorr et al., A HEATABLE LARGE-VOLUME HIGH-PRESSURE-CELL FOR NEUTRON POWDER DIFFRACTION - THE KIEL-BERLIN CELL-I, Review of scientific instruments, 68(10), 1997, pp. 3817-3822
A heatable high pressure cell for angle dispersive neutron powder diff
raction has been developed. This cell, called Kiel-Berlin Cell I, is o
f the piston-cylinder-type and based on a design first introduced by M
cWhan. High temperature conditions under high pressure are achieved by
a graphite resistance heater surrounding the sample container. The ce
ll operates up to temperatures of 700 K and pressures of 1.5 GPa, simu
ltaneously. We report the design of the cell along with calibration da
ta. We also give a brief and representative account of pressure-temper
ature-dependent studies in which the present cell was used. (C) 1997 A
