VORTEX LINES AND TRANSITIONS IN SUPERFLUID HYDRODYNAMICS

Couette flow has been used as a benchmark to establish the equations o f motion of superfluid helium and to study the nature and the motion o f quantized vortex lines. This paper illustrates the transitions and t he flow patterns which have been identified in helium Couette flows at increasing velocity.
