Recently we have presented a realiable determination of the ion-ion po
tentials for the O-16+Ni-58,Ni-60,Ni-62,Ni-64 systems, at the large in
teracting radius (9.5 less than or equal to R less than or equal to 11
.5 fm), by measuring the elastic (1% precision) and inelastic (2(+)) c
ross sections at sub-barrier energies. In the present work, we have ex
tended those studies to the O-18+Ni-58,Ni-60 systems, and we have inve
stigated: (i) the influence of the neutron-transfer processes in the d
etermination of the ion-ion potentials using the coupled-channel (CC)
analysis of the data, (ii) the comparison between the resulting CC ion
-ion potentials and the theoretical calculations using the double-fold
ed method and shell-model densities, (iii) possible influence of the t
wo-neutron transfer process in the measured fusion cross sections for
the O-16,O-18+Ni-58,Ni-60.
