Abstract
A simple Bow injection chemiluminescence (CL) method for the determina tion of progesterone and hydrocortisones (HCRs) is described, The meth od is based on their sensitizing effect on the chemiluminescence react ion of a mercapto-group (-SH) with cerium(IV) in sulfuric acid. This m ethod allows determination in the ranges 0.28-8.0 mu g/mL for hydrocor tisones (HCRs) and 0.5-8.0 mu g/mL for progesterone with a detection l imit of 0.10 mu g/mL for HCRs and 0.26 mu g/mL for progesterone. The e xperimental conditions for the reaction are optimized. The possible re action mechanism is discussed.
