Abstract
Resistivity measurements on thin films are very suitable for the study of the kinetics of reactions on metallic surfaces. The oxidation of c arbon monoxide on palladium is investigated as an example of great tec hnical relevance, where details of the reaction mechanism and the film structure are well-known from literature. The time dependence of the change in resistivity is quantitatively interpreted with the help of a diffusion model based on a Monte-Carlo simulation of the gas coverage of the surface.
