Aa. Ragozin, CONDITIONS OF STATIC STABILITY OF LONG-DISTANCE POWER TRANSMISSION-LINES WITH CONTROLLED SHUNT REACTORS, ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY, (2), 1997, pp. 73-79
The paper describes a simplified analysis of the steady-state stabilit
y conditions of a long-distance power transmission line with controlle
d shunt reactors and its physical interpretation. It is shown that the
standard condition for ensuring static stability of an idealized mode
l of a system (with no allowance for transients or active resistances
in the stator circuit), connected with the need to fulfil the requirem
ent of a positive leading coefficient of the characteristic equation o
f slightly disturbed motion, is none other than the condition of manif
estation of generator asynchronous self-excitation, which in practice
cannot be suppressed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserv
