The synthesis of functional poly(methylhydro)siloxanes has been succes
sfully performed by effective quantitative hydrosilylation of allyl de
rivatives (allyl phenyl ether, allyl glycidyl ether, allyl methacrylat
e, allyl chloride, allylamine) and 1-octene with poly(methylhydro)silo
xanes catalyzed by platinum [PtCl2(PPh3)(2), H2PtCl6-cyclohexanone] an
d ruthenium (Ru-3(CO)(12)) complexes, The products were isolated and c
haracterized by H-1 NMR, FT IR and GPC methods and can be regarded as
examples of well-defined functionalized polysiloxanes with various pra
ctical applications. (C) 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
