Abstract
The main results of two impact testing campaigns of automotive longitu dinal beams in mild steel and aluminium performed by means of the larg e Hopkinson bar of the Joint Research Centre Ispra site are reported. The need of precision crash tests for the aim of calibration of indust rial impact rigs and validation of FE code is discussed.
