In 1992, we observed in our department three patients showing erysipel
as in the leg used for veir graft harvesting in order to undergo aorto
coronary bypass surgery. None of the patients had experienced erysipel
as prior to surgery. One patient had his first erysipela while the oth
ers showed the first and second recurrence, respectively. On the basis
of these case reports, the clinical findings, therapy, and prophylaxi
s are discussed.
