H. Nakagawa et al., DETERMINATION OF TRACE AMOUNTS OF CHLORINE IN SILICA BY PRESSURIZED ALKALINE DECOMPOSITION ION CHROMATOGRAPHY/, Bunseki Kagaku, 46(10), 1997, pp. 801-804
Trace amounts of chlorine in silica were determined by pressurized alk
aline decomposition/ion chromatography. Each sample was decomposed wit
h tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide in a teflon pressure vessel at 140 de
grees C for 6 hours. In order to separate the matrix components, the d
ecomposition solution was passed through a cation exchange column (mur
omac 500WX8, 50 similar to 100 mesh; 12 ml). The column was then washe
d with pure water. Chlorine of the eluate was determined by ion chroma
tography. Quantitative recoveries were obtained for chlorine. The dete
ction limit of chlorine was 0.6 mu g/g. Trace chlorine in silicas for
electronics was determined.
