H. Schuchmann et al., ROLE OF PARTICLE PROPERTIES AND PROCESS V ARIABLES FOR JET AGGLOMERATION OF INSTANT DRINK POWDERS, Lebensmittel-Wissenschaft + Technologie, 27(4), 1994, pp. 350-357
The role of particle properties and of process variables on the final
effect of jet agglomeration has been studied. Experiments have been co
nducted with six different sugar-containing raw mixes in a pilot plant
. It was confirmed that fine nonspherical particles (x(1.3) < 160 mum)
undergo dry pre-agglomeration, due to relative high cohesive forces.
Some model simulations of the process have been carried out. These res
ults show the wetting or drying possibilities and trends for particles
of different sizes and densities under given process conditions and w
ere confirmed by experiments.
