This correspondence reports our study of a novel motion estimation tec
hnique by exploiting the uncompensable characteristic of the motion fi
eld, Preliminary results indicate that this technique not only reduces
the estimation burden drastically but also improves the subjective pi
cture quality and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).
