Abstract
Wavelets have shown great applicability in many diverse fields of scie nce, and are now becoming of interest in analytical chemistry. This pa per is intended as a first reading, introducing fundamentals of wavele ts and wavelet transforms, and some applications thereof, such as sign al compression and denoising, image processing, data set compression a nd the modeling of multivariate data sets.
