Abstract
A critical review of the receptor model based on Target Transformation Factor Analysis is presented. A new way of scaling the data set and e valuating the number of independent sources is proposed. The model app lied to particulate matter samples collected at a receptor site in the Milan city-center leads to the identification of five sources contrib uting to air pollution.
